Our sawn sleepers are manufactured from sustainably sourced European softwood. Each sleeper is pressure treated to protect against rot and decay which lasts for up to 15 years. A wood preservative will need to be applied to newly cut surfaces. Timber sleepers are used for many landscape purposes, such as edging to your grass or paved area, retaining walls, raised beds and planting areas.
Indication for use as lawn edging or vertical wall: 2.4 m sleeper cut at 300 mm lengths will provide 8 pieces (300 mm x 200 mm x 100 mm). This will cover 1.6 m when aligned next to each other (300 mm x 1.6 m x 100 mm).

European Oak Hardwood - 2.4 m x 200 mm x 100 mm
Our sawn sleepers are manufactured from sustainably sourced European Oak. These are often used as garden retainers, horizontally and vertically, for steps and for growing vegetables in garden raised beds. Oak sleepers will vary in appearance. Fresher cut stock tends to be a pale green to soft russet tones, but as they start to weather the colours will become more muted and after a season or two will become slate grey in colour. This is perfectly natural.
Very occasionally fresh cut oak sleepers may have dark grey or black marks on the exposed face, this is perfectly normal and sometimes occurs when the timber has been in contact with steel from fork lift “prongs”. Marks can easily be removed by a belt sander.
